Portsmouth Guernsey Ferry reviews

  • "To Sark and Back"

We love travelling with Condor on the Commodore Clipper. It is a comfortable, gentle start and end to the holiday in Sark. We have been doing this for many years, and would not wish to change. A reclining seat to Guernsey, and a cabin for the return journey, add to the comfort. The food is good, and the service (especially from the Purser) is excellent. There is just one thing that causes us anxiety - that is, will we get to Guernsey in time to catch the 5pm boat to Sark? Usually we do, though on 2 occasions we have had to find accommodation in Guernsey for the night, as we have missed the Sark boat. Apart from the hassle, it adds expense to the holiday. On several occasions it has been a close thing. Our son and family has has the same problem. Although everyone has done their best to help it would be ideal if either the Commodore Clipper could get to Guernsey a bit sooner, or Sark Shipping leave a bit later - then the inevitable delays that occur from time to time would not be so crucial.

  • "Good experience"

The cabin was comfortable. The ship has no forward views- you need to pay a premium for either seating or a cabin with this, but other than that the staff were really friendly and helpful and the lounge areas were airy and comfortable.

  • "Family trip"

Our family with young children really enjoyed our ferry trip, we booked a cabin both ways and were very glad we did, it meant we had a private room as a base, to watch dvds, play games and read whilst relaxing on the beds. It was worth getting the deluxe cabin with a window facing the front, we had a great view of the islands. Our children enjoyed going outside on deck to see the naval ships in Portsmouth and the islands. Instead of being a difficult 12 hour journey with young children they enjoyed the adventure. Definitely recommend a cabin both for day and night. Only downside was the cafe was expensive so take snacks and drinks.
