How to get to Heraklion Port

The Heraklion ferry port (known locally as Port of Heraklion) is conveniently located near the city center and Heraklion International Airport. It’s about 3 km from the airport, a 10-minute taxi ride or 20 minutes by bus. From downtown, you can walk to the port in about 15 minutes, or take a short taxi or local bus (routes 1 or 78). The port area is well-signposted and serves multiple ferry companies connecting Crete with Athens (Piraeus) and other islands such as Santorini, Mykonos, and Rhodes. Arrive at least one hour before departure to check in and board smoothly.
