The Swedish town of Grisslehamn is located on the coast by the Sea of Aland and is the main town on the island of Vaddo. The town lies around 110 km to the north of Stockholm and has a long history of being the departure point to the Sea of Aland. Visitors who want to explore the town and surrounding area can easily hire bicycles from the marina. A pleasant way to relax is to take a wander around the old fishing harbour where you will find a number of fish shops and cafes. If pony trekking is what you are after, then head to a nearby town named Singo, to the north of Grisslehamn, where Iceland ponies can be ridden. There is also a museum in the harbour dedicated to the painter, illustrator and author, Albert Engstrom, who lived in the town at the beginning of the 20th century. Many of his works are on display in the museum. On the outskirts of the town you can find his art studio on the rocks looking out over the sea.

The most famous building in the town is the Post and Customs House which was the largest and most impressive building erected in 1828 to aid postal services between Stockholm and St. Petersburg.
