About Swindle Island

Swindle Island lies just off the North Coast region of British Columbia in Canada, located on the Inside Passage shipping route. A peaceful island with densely forested hills, Swindle is also home to a small community of the Kitasoo tribe in Klemtu on the east coast, a subgroup of the Heiltsuk who are the indigenous people of British Columbia. The village itself is renowned in Canadian folklore for the alleged sighting of Sasquatch in 1968 on a nearby beach, too. Like most islands on the western coast of Canada, Swindle is a top destination for kayaking and canoeing, where you can paddle through the stunning fjords all the way to Alaska. From the ferry terminal in Klemtu, there are routes provided to a few islands along the British Columbian coast, operated by one of the state’s leading ferry companies.

Vancouver Island sits just off the west coast of Canada in the Pacific Ocean, part of the British Columbia province. As the largest landmass on the west coast of North America, with a population of just over 750,000, Vancouver Island is a massive wilderness with one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems, scattered with fishing communities and villages along the craggy coastline. Ferries also link the island with the United States, with frequent crossings from Seattle.
