Port Denarua is on a small private island in the northwest corner of Fiji’s mainland, Viti Levu. It is the main gateway to some of the beautiful islets along the northwest coast and is just twenty minutes from Nadi International Airport by car. It is considered the island’s finest marina facility, offering restaurants, a spa, a large supermarket and a wide selection of shops. You can also book tours and activities inside the terminal. There are a number of luxurious hotels on Denarau Island where you can relax overnight before your journey as well.
Nestled in a clearing of the tropical woodland that veils most of Nanuya LaiLai Island in lush, emerald plant-life is the Gold Coast Resort. This tranquil spot on the northern coast of the Fijian island is built around a silky stretch of golden sand that skirts the crystal-clear shallows of the South Pacific. The vibrant coral-reef that surrounds the shoreline is the perfect place to swim, snorkel or kayak, though some may find it far more tempting to watch the action from the comfort of a swinging hammock instead. The port of Gold Coast Resort is found upon the beach to the north of the island, just a short walk from the holiday resort complex. It is nothing more than an area of the shorefront designated for the docking and disembarking of ferries. There are no amenities at the port itself but there are toilet facilities and a few cafes a short walk away at the resort. There are no roads or any form of public transport on Nanuya LaiLai Island meaning that the port can only be reached on foot. However, due to the small island’s small size, nowhere is more than a mile away in any direction. One ferry service currently operates from the port. An Awesome Adventures Fiji line sails the short trip south to Denarau on the mainland of Fiji, a voyage that takes passengers around the tip of the island, across the Pacific and into the ultramarine waters of Nadi Bay.
