Weymouth Guide

The English town of Weymouth lies on the English Channel coast on the south coast of England and was once a thriving port during medieval times but today is primarily a tourist resort, and one of the most popular on the south coast. A great deal of the town has been developed during the 18th and 19th centuries and the town's Esplanade dates back to Georgian times and runs along the seafront. The town is well known for its sailing and the Weymouth and Portland Academy was selected to host the main sailing events at the London Olympics in 2012. Perhaps the most iconic landmark in the town is the Old Harbour itself which contains a marina and some excellent restaurants. From the harbour visitors can embark on a boat trip around the bay.
