About Abaco Islands

The Abacos are a chain of islands stretching 776-square-miles in the northern Bahamas, comprising Great Abaco, Little Abaco and a large number of barrier cays. Widely regarded as a paradise for sailors thanks to their calm waters and multiple islands and cays, the Abacos also have some amazing beaches, one of which is frequently voted in the world’s top 10 list. Scuba divers and snorkelers flock here for the third largest barrier reef on the planet, too. Most locals reside in the energetic town of Marsh Harbour which boasts a lively downtown and all the amenities you would need for exploring the surrounding Loyalist Cays, named after the 18th Century settlers who were fleeing from the American Revolution. The Abaco Islands are well connected to the Bahamian capital of Nassau on New Providence, with weekly crossings departing from Sandy Point on the south coast of Great Abaco.

About New Providence

New Providence is an island in the Bahamas, home to around seventy percent of the country's population who primarily reside in the vibrant capital, Nassau. Small, yet full of energy, New Providence is wonderfully chaotic, allowing your senses not a moment’s peace. But that’s all to be expected from an island once roamed by pirates and, albeit fictitiously, James Bond. Bustling markets and festivities on stunning beaches are commonplace, but there are plenty of options for those who need some downtime; fascinating galleries and historic sites can be found all over Nassau. The pirate museum offers an insight into the island’s swashbuckling history, whilst the enormous, ruinous Fort Charlotte affords lovely hilltop views and makes a brilliant day trip for families. Given the capital’s location in the heart of the Bahamas, New Providence is one of the nation’s travel hubs, with numerous ferries docking in Nassau all week from a number of Bahamian islands.
