Toremar

Toremar connects the coast of Tuscany, in northwest Italy, with numerous islands of the Tuscan Archipelago including Elba, Giglio, Capraia and Pianosa, in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Set up in 1976, Toremar (Toscana Regionale Marittima) offers year-round, punctual, comfortable and reliable ferry crossings, even in adverse weather conditions. Each year, the company transports around 1.5 million passengers, carrying out over 8,000 crossings. In 2011, Toremar was acquired by the huge Italian ferry operator Moby Lines, who now operates the service alongside their own ferries every day of the year.

Made up of 8 modern ferries, the Toremar fleet is one of the most contemporary and well-equipped in Tuscany. As standard, each ship was designed with roll stabilisers, making the sailing as smooth as possible, whatever the conditions of the Tyrrhenian. The on-board features include full air-conditioning, children’s play areas, cafeterias, sun decks and disabled access. The passenger capacity for the largest ferry, Rio Marina Bella reaches 900, while the smallest, Schiopparella Jet accommodates 145.

Toremar Customer Reviews

  • "Good service"

We booked a return trip to Elba from Piombino with Tremor. The handling at the ports was efficient and stress free. The trip was only an hour but the ship had all the amenities needed. We turned up early for the return ferry and we're offered the chance to take the service that was about to leave (notwithstanding what it says on their website). Very good service.

We arrived much earlier than we expected but were able to board the boat without any problem. The boats were punctual, clean, the food was good and there were some great facilities to the kids. our trip went very well.

  • "Generally very good"

It was a bit confusing getting on and off the ferry as there was no one checking our paperwork at either end or telling us where to go. Other than that the ferry was clean, the staff were friendly and the journey was calm and incident free. There is a bit of a strange system for buying food, you have to order at one desk and then go to the counter to collect you food, basically having to line up twice. Everything else was fine.
