We were due to depart Dublin at 14:30 and had planned to leave our hotel at about noon. At 11:33 I was informed that due to bad weather conditions, our departure was delayed by 5 hours. So we hung around the hotel as long as was decent set off for Dublin port sometime later. We joined the queue and waited patiently to board. We finally set sail at 21:07 arriving home at 5:00 on Monday morning, some 6 and a half hours late. An update of further delay would have been appreciated. However, the crossing was quite peaceful and we enjoyed our stay in Eire immensely.

Great experience on these ferries, extremely professional from the moment you arrive at the terminal, with staff guiding you every step of the way, so no need to worry if you are not familiar with ferry travel. If soon found a good place to rest whilst on the journey, and I had a beautiful meal from the restaurant, there was plenty to choose from the menu and I think it was a very reasonable priced. The trip was very smooth but I suppose it all depends on the weather at the time of sailing. I will definitely use this service again for my next visit to Ireland.

Very easy booking process. When 1 of the sailings was cancelled it was sorted and another sailing confirmed within 24 hours. Both sailings were exactly on time leaving and arriving.

The sheet and quilt are most uncomfortable. The slightest movement and you were losing the quilt or getting tied up in the sheet. What happened to quilt covers? Everything else was fine.

  • "Great Sailing"

Went out on the Epsilon and returned on the Ulysses. Good facilities albeit the Ulysses is much bigger. Nice food served on both and very clean. Easy access with the car and sailed and docked on time. No complaints from me.

  • "all good! keep going Irish ferries"

The staff was very friendly and the reclining seats were OK too, it would be great to have something in between the cabins and the reclining seats price wise because of course you can't really sleep in the seats, if you are lucky as we were it was not full and you could sleep on the floor. Beware of seasickness but of course that cannot be helped, we will always continue to use the ferry to avoid plane travel and save the planet ... Thanks!

  • "Stressful "

Had bought extra insurance for return journey from Holyhead to Dublin alongside the booking. A couple of days into my holiday I needed to return to the UK urgently because of a family emergency but when I tried online through Direct Ferries to bring forward the date of the return sailing I found I couldn’t do it as the outward journey had already taken place. This made an already unbearable situation even worse. I tried to go through Irish Ferries but their office was closed from Saturday 4pm until Monday morning. More stress! I emailed the port at Dublin but don’t think I received a reply. I even considered leaving my car in Ireland and flying back to the UK when I noticed a number to ring at the port out of Irish Ferries office hours and managed to secure a Sunday afternoon sailing which cost an extra £50. There was nothing wrong with the two ships I travelled on. They were adequate, comfortable and well run. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

  • "Decent trip"

Easy to drive on and off the ship. Don't like to sleeping facilities (dated). Make sure to bring your own blanket and headphones as people are noisy and inconsiderate, and the crew does not care. Don't do at night as you won't be able to catch up on sleep.

  • "Holyhead-Dublin-Holyhead "

We travelled on Epsilon going out which was one of the smaller ferries without Club class and there was a very bad vibration// rattle in the “ quiet” lounge. So loud that we were unable to sit there. We travelled back on Ulysses which was a much bigger ferry and we had booked Club class seats which were very good but really could have done with higher backs as we had been on the road since 2 am. The snacks provided were very welcome. Priority loading was good and we were away off the ferry very promptly on docking in Holyhead.
