Baie de Seine

Operated by Brittany Ferries on the Bilbao Portsmouth route

The Baie de Seine is the second ship in Brittany Ferries no frills ‘économie’ fleet and offers a simple yet extremely comfortable service. Formerly with DFDS as the Sirena Seaways, the Baie de Seine has a passenger capacity of 610 and availability for more than 200 vehicles. Onboard you’ll find a self-service restaurant with limited choice, a small bar and café, boutique, limited seating, a range of en-suite cabins, free Wi-Fi internet access and children’s play area.

Onboard Cabins / Reserved Seating

There is vast array of cabin choice available onboard, with the Baine de Seine offering 2,3 and 4 berth inside and outside cabins all of which are equipped with ensuite facilities and are air conditioned. Cots are available on request. Disabled cabins are also available.

Onboard Food and Drink

A self-service restaurant can be located on Deck 8 which offers a selection of tasty hot and cold food as well as snacks and deserts. If you would prefer to just have a relaxing beverage there is a Bar overlooking the ships bow offering a range of beers, French wines, soft drinks and light snacks or there is a café on the deck below.

Onboard Shopping

The boutique offers passengers a chance to purchase gifts for themselves or others. You can pick up items such as spirits, wine, tobacco, perfume and cosmetics plus much more for very reasonable prices.

Accessibility

The ship is wheelchair friendly with disabled parking available close to passenger elevators as well as specially fitted cabins. Please contact the operator prior to your departure if you need these services.

Please Note: Whilst we have taken great care in making our Baie de Seine guide as accurate as possible, onboard facilities, services and entertainment may vary depending on the date and time of year that you travel, facilities mentioned may change without notification and ferry companies reserve the right to operate vessels other than those mentioned at time of booking without prior notification.

  • "Buy direct from the Ferry operator, NEVER buy from direct ferries.com"

I bought ticket from Direct Ferries.com and when i arrived the ferry was cancelled a week ago (before i even bought my ticket). Direct ferries.com did not email or get in touch about the cancellation. I was forced to wait in the terminal for the next ferry for 5 hours. I will buy directly from Brittany Ferries in the future. PLEASE AVOID directferries.com.

Pleasant travelling all be it weather was a bit rough. The extra for the recliner seating worth the comfort. Did not try the catering but it looks OK when passing by that area. Well organised boarding and disembarkation by helpful crew.

  • "Fifty-fifty"

I travelled from France to Portsmouth on the Baie de Seine, which is a good improvement on past ferries. The cabins are well-designed for convenient space, the shop and restaurant areas look inviting and well-presented. Boarding and disembarking well handled. I came back on the Etretat, an older boat (I think) where the layout and appearance are showing their age. I don't understand why you have to queue up for a cabin entry code. I discovered the next morning that the upper bunk (cabin 6A25) above me was insecurely fastened, and could have given me a mighty crack on the head! Staff on both boats were welcoming and polite.

  • "Comfortable journeys "

The ferry to Santander was economy so not much entertainment. I liked the reading lounge and luckily weather was great so it was nice to relax in the sunshine. The food was pricey and mediocre. The return ferry was much better. There was small outdoor swimming pool, cinema, entertainment in the form or bingo, quiz and talks. Wider range of food. Overall better experience despite the grey cloudy weather.

The outward trip was very good, the ship Baie de Seine was better for disembarkation than the Etretat which was the ship on the return journey. that part took too long. But overall standards are very good for the "Economie " ships

  • "Really Good travel option - Would do again !!"

Nothing much to complain about really. Checking in and boarding was easy (short delay loading, but nothing much). Ship was clean and tidy. Services and facilities were good (its a ferry not a cruise ship!). Bar, café, shop, restaurant all manned by very happy and pleasant French staff and prices were affordable. Boat had games room, play room open decks to sides and aft to sit watch the world go by. Dog walking deck. We really enjoyed it, much better than we thought we would do. Only real negatives are the cost (vs convenience?) and the 28 hour journey length.

  • "Italy by car"

We descided this year to Road Trip from Somerset to Umbria in Italy In finding direct ferries the whole process even when changes were required was without fault The ships both going and returning sailed on time and were very clean and presented The French staff were approachable and polite, with also being helpful when needed to We had a cabin on both in and out voyages and they were very nicely kept. On the return voyage we were at the bow of the ship, but unfortunately the port hole windows were too obscured to get a clear view All in all excellent service and seriously we will consider again over flying

staff very helpful from start to finish ,kennels for the dogs were adequate space for them ld got to your dogs at any time during the journey ,having to wear a muzzle to gain entry to the ferry was a bit stressful but was ok ,(i can understand why they do this ). my cabin was a basic twin with shower and toilet ,bed was very comfy free wifi made the journey go quicker ,would definately do it again with no hesitation looking forward to my next solo adventure .NOT AS STRESFULL AS YOU MAY THINK WOULD DEFINATELY DO IT AGAIN SOLO.

Ferry left and arrived on time but two big failings: 1. No air con in cabin, very hot and stuffy 2. Over an hour queue to clear passport control.... one man on to start with, then two... poo French staffing spoilt a good croasing

  • "Good service"

This is a good no frills service, however, I felt that the food could have been better. Also the WiFi wasn't very good and would be better if it could be in all the cabins. There was no entertainment, unless you wanted to sit in the bar and watch non stop football! Or sky news in the coffee bar. It's a long journey pity there was no cinema, as that would have helped time pass. Anyway apart from that it was all run efficeintly and the staff were exemplary, and I would use this ferry again.

  • "Dissapointment"

This review has nothing to do with the ship. However, your booking system needs to be updated to include large Campers. I chose the maximum size of camper and trailer but when I checked in they said that it was not booked correctly. This is because Brittany Ferries have more accurate vehicle booking options. As a result I had to pay £140 extra. This was no fault of mine but yet I was penalised because of your inadequate booking options. Regards, Ben
