Sete ferry port is situated on the French Mediterranean coast, very close to Montpellier, the 8th largest city of France. Skikda is a port city in north eastern Algeria on the Gulf of Stora with a population of around a quarter of a million people. Until 1962 when the Algerian War of Independence ended, Skikda was known as Philippeville. Its landscape is hilly and forested, with high ridges on both the western and eastern sides of the city.
