How to check-in at the ferry port?

  • How can I find directions to the ferry port?

You can find the address to the ferry port in your confirmation email as well as a link to Google Maps to help with directions. You can also have a look at the Ferry Port page to find some more details about the port and the address. Some ports can be quite big, with different addresses for different ferry companies, so make sure to check that you have the correct address for your ferry.

  • When do I need to check in when traveling by ferry?

Check in times will vary from one route or ferry company to another - but all the information about your specific route can be found when you make your booking, and will be shown on your booking confirmation email as well. If you have pets with you, or require assistance at the port, then we'd always suggest that you allow for extra time.

  • Can I get on an earlier ferry crossing?

Usually, the ticket that you purchase is only valid for the crossing that you have booked it for. Some ferry companies do allow you to change your crossing time, but this usually only happens if there are multiple ferry routes available per day. If you wish to change your ferry route, or wish to purchase a more flexible ticket, then please contact us.

  • What do I do if I’m late or likely to miss my ferry crossing?

The best thing you can do is to call our telephone helpline, so we can help you to see if it is possible to change your ticket to a different sailing. If you are travelling when our telephone line is closed, then we recommend proceeding to the port and see if the ferry operator directly will change your ticket.

  • What can I expect onboard the ship?

We have a thorough guide of all our ships and what they are like onboard - please look at our Ferry Companies' pages to find your ship, and discover everything you need to know about your crossing!

  • Where do I check in for my ferry?

Where you check in for your ferry will be different for each operator and port. You can find information on where to check in on the port pages and in your confirmation email. We do our best to keep this information up to date, but it can change at short notice so it's important to give yourself plenty of time to check in. You'll find the final check in time in your confirmation email.

  • Do I need to pick up a boarding pass or ticket at the ferry port?

For most crossings your confirmation email will act as your boarding pass and ticket, however for some routes and ferry companies you will need to exchange your confirmation email for a ticket or boarding pass. If you do need to collect your boarding pass at the port we'll let you know during the booking process and in your confirmation email.

  • Can I park my car at the port?

Some ports will have parking facilities, but not all. Where ever possible we'll try to provide you useful information regarding ports on the port pages of our website and in your confirmation email. However this kind of information can change regularly, so we'd always suggest a quick online search for available facilities in and around the port before heading out.

This will depend on which ferry you're traveling on. You can find information on each ferry companies ships on our Ferry Companies' pages. Ferry companies can change ships on a sailing at the last minute, so we can't always guarantee which ship you will be sailing on, but we'll do our best to give you the most accurate and useful information we can.
