Vieste is a town in the province of Foggia, southeast Italy, bordered by Mattinata, Monte Sant’Angelo, Peschici and Vico del Gargano.
About 50 years ago, there wasn’t even a proper road in Vieste. But nowadays, it has become a well known marine resort and holiday capital of Gargano. The town’s spectacular beaches have received Blue Flags for the purity of its waters and are packed during summer, especially in August.
Vieste centre is divided into the new town and old town. The old town sits on the easternmost of the area and is a typical Mediterranean suburb with narrow pedestrian streets each with its own story, small restaurants and shops with old ladies dressed in black sitting outside the door.
Despite the crowd, Vieste is a lively and inviting town overall, with and interesting historic core.
